Florida Everglades Fishing

The
Florida Everglades are located in the southern portion
of Florida, in parts of Monroe, Collier, Palm Beach,
Miami-Dade, and Broward counties. The Florida
Everglades extends from Lake Okeechobee on the north
to Florida Bay on the south and features the Ten
Thousand Islands. The area is also home to the
Everglades National Park the largest subtropical
wilderness in the U.S. The Everglades consist of
a shallow sheet of fresh water that rolls slowly over
the lowlands and through billions of blades of
sawgrass and features rare and endangered species and
incredible wilderness sightseeing.
Most
anglers fish in the canals rather than in the marsh.
Anglers work canal edges with plastic worms, soft
jerkbaits, and minnow imitations. Flipping the
vegetation is also a popular technique. During high
water, anglers will often enter the marsh areas where
bass can be found in the open slough areas. The
L-67A Canal and Alligator Alley Canals have access
trails off of them that are specifically cut to
provide boats access to adjacent marsh areas.
